The palace features 953 small windows called 'jharokhas' decorated with intricate latticework.
Hawa Mahal, the 'Palace of Winds', was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. The structure was designed by architect Lal Chand Ustad in the form of the crown of Lord Krishna, the Hindu god to whom Sawai Pratap Singh was devoted. The palace served as an extension of the royal zenana (women's quarters).
Over the years, Hawa Mahal has become an integral part of Jaipur's cultural landscape. Visitors from across the globe come here to witness the architectural brilliance and learn about the rich heritage that this place represents. The site has been carefully preserved to maintain its historical authenticity while ensuring a comfortable experience for modern-day tourists.
The palace features 953 small windows called 'jharokhas' decorated with intricate latticework. The design allowed royal women to observe everyday life and festivals on the street below without being seen by the public. Despite having five floors, there are no stairs - only ramps connect the levels. The pink sandstone facade is only one room deep but creates a stunning honeycomb illusion.
What truly sets Hawa Mahal apart is its ability to transport visitors back in time. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a photography lover, or simply someone looking to explore the Pink City's treasures, this destination offers something memorable for everyone. The attention to detail in every corner tells stories of the craftsmen and visionaries who created this masterpiece.

Absolutely stunning architecture! The Palace of Winds is even more beautiful in person. Best visited early morning when the sun lights up the facade. The view from inside looking out through the windows is magical. Don't miss the rooftop view!
